The most significant criterion to discriminate between benign cases and malignant cases by the histogram of nuclear DNA content was the increase of the rate of nuclei with 4.0 n and over. In non-cancerous cases the rate was always within 5.0%, while typical cancer cases showed always the values over 5.0%. Thus we took "5.0%" as the diagnostic criterion for cancer. According to this criterion, it was possible to differentiate most of the borderline cases which were difficult to be histologically differentiated as benign or malignant, by using such nuclear DNA content as a criterion of judgement.
