Twenty three Philippine medicinal plants were tested for their anti-histamine release properties. Of the plants tested, Blumea balsamifera, Cordia myxa, Ehretia microphylla and Vitex negundo were shown to be strongly active. From a MeOH extract of the leaves of Ehretia microphylla, rosmarinic acid was isolated as one of the active inhibitory constituents. Astragalin, nicotoflorin, bauerenol, α-amyrin and β-amyrin were also isolated from this plants.
