OS-403 Design of Single Crystal Superalloys for Industrial Gas Turbines(Organized Session 4: Advanced Materials and Coatings)

In order to raise the turbine inlet gas temperature to improve thermal efficiency of gas turbine, turbine blade and vane materials are required high creep rupture strength. In the present study, it was intended to develop new single crystal superalloys which has high creep strength and phase stability in comparison with the 2nd generation single crystal superalloys. These alloys were designed to precipitate γ' phase between 55vol% and 70vol% and to be add solid solution elements as much as possible using with the National Research Institutes for Metals Alloy Development Program (NRIM-ADP). Most suitable composition were finally selected by the results of creep, tensile, high temperature corrosion and aging tests. Consequently, we developed the alloy which has excellent phase stability and the creep rupture strength in comparison with the 2nd generation single crystal superalloys
