In this paper we present a theoretical approach to modeling adjacent channel interference (ACI) for a millimeter-wave wireless personal area network (WPAN) system operating in 60GHz band on single-carrier (SC) technology. Root raised cosine (RRC) filter is considered both in transmitter and receiver, and non-linear effect of a practical SiGe BiCMOS power amplifier (PA) is taken into account. An interesting analytical approach is followed that is a blend of both time-domain and frequency domain concepts. We develop the error rate analysis based on time-domain concept considering the band-limited pulse shape and ACI, cross-term inter-symbol interference due to that and also precisely incorporate the ACI energy from frequency domain perspective. A Nakagami fading channel and maximal ratio combining (MRC) of the signals from multiple receive antennas are considered. The resultant model provides us a flexible way to investigate the effect of various important system parameters such as filter roll-off factor, PA output back-off (OBO), channel fading parameter and receiver diversity order etc. Relevant results are shown.
