High-Pressure Diels-Alder Reaction of [C60] Fullerene with Functionalized Tropone Derivatives

By heating buckminsterfullerene, C60, with functionalized tropones having a C-substituent in toluene under high-pressure conditions(300 MPa) at 100℃, stable 1: 1-Diels-Alder adducts were obtained in fairly good yields.The adduct obtained from 4-(2-methoxytropon-5-yl）butyn-1-ol was successfully esterified with succinic acid and B-indolecarboxylic acid.
