Superconducting cuprates Sr_2YCu_3O_z and Sr_2TmCu_3O_z are synthesized under various conditions to optimize their superconducting properties. The maximum value of the superconducting transition temperature (T_c) is 70 K for Sr_2YCu_3O_z and 62 K for Sr_2TmCu_3O_z; which are realized after firing for more than 9 h when carbon-free starting samples are used for high-pressure synthesis. The enhancement of T_c is attributable to an increase in oxygen pressure.
