Effects of Post-Annealing in H_2S on Photo- and Electroluminescence Properties of SrS:Ce Thin Film

The luminescence properties of cerium-activated strontium sulfide phosphor after annealing in H_2S atmosphere are investigated. A peculiar excitation band around 355 nm is observed in photoluminescence (PL) excitation spectra, which stems from a trap state in the band gap. It is found that the intensity of the electroluminescence (EL) increases with increasing intensity of the peculiar peak at 355 nm. The trap state is considered to be involved in the EL emission mechanism.
