A nest of the Himalayan bumblebee Bombus (Festivobomus) festivus SMITH was described as the first record for the subgenus. The nest was subterranean and this species belonged to non-pocket makers. Caste difference in hair coat color was directly confirmed. Beside the owner queen, the nest contained two dead conspecific queens and one dead queen of B. (Melanobombus) flavothoracicus SMITH, suggesting a failed intersubgeneric usurpation after two conspecific conflicts.
