Taxonomic Notes on Three Bicolorous Tetragonula Stingless Bees in Southeast Asia

As a step to revise the subgenus Tetragonula, a taxonomically difficult group of Indopacific stingless bees, three bicolorous species, T. sarawakensis, T. drescheri and T. minangkabau sp. nov., were separated from predominant darkcolored forms in the subgenus and further discriminated one another, using canonical discriminant analysis based upon both metric and color characters. T. sarawakensis is largest and most pale-colored, T. minangkabau is smallest and darker, and T. drescheri is intermediate.
