概要

The green paramecium, Paramecium bursaria, has endosymbiotic algae in the cytoplasm. Here, we report that all endosymbiotic algae are destroyed, producing symbiotic algae-free strains of paramecia, when green paramecia are cultivated in the presence of a herbicide paraquat.
