Different temr>erature der>endence of the "Mn Kninht shift has been observedfor each Mn atom at four inequivalent crystallographic sites in a-Mn metal.These characteristic rror>erties are tried to understand b>' the rhenomenolo:icallocalized sr>in fluctuation model, where the effect of sr>in fluctuation is consideredbv the same r>rocedure established in the Kondo r>roblem and the exchangeinteraction between maznetic moments is ar>r>roximated bv the molecular fields,The exrerimental results of the Knisht shift and the anomalous transport pro-r>erties of a-Mn are found to be crualitativel>' well understood bv this rhenomenol..ogical model. The existence of the localized spin fluctuations in c<-Mn, postulatedpreviously by the XPS measurements, is confirmed.
