Relativistic Effects on Transport Coefficients in Collision Dominant Magnetoactive Plasmas

The cross-field transport coefficients in collision dotaainant relativistic plasnaas laave been de-rived frotaa a relativistically ttaodified kinetic eqtration by Legendre expansion analysis. Thecollision integrals, xvhich include tlte cross section of' relartivistic Rtrtherf'ord scattering, are inte-grated by trsing the relativistic Nlaxxvell distribtttiora for electrons. The tlaerzt?al and electricalconductivities, the Pettier, Nernst, Hall, and Ledtrc-Righi coefficients ar'e obtained f'or relativisticplasutaas. Resistive magnetic field eqtrations consistently cotrpled with raaagneto-hydrodynsrunic(NIHD) and kinetic equations are derived. The set of' eqtrations can be inclttded in the sitaatrlation code which describes naagneto-hydrodynaraaics of plasnaas with relativistic energy electrons.The energy relaxation of' relativistic electrons srnd ions in derase plasmas and the properties ofnonlinear heat wave propagation in the trltra-relativistic tetaaperattrre are also investigated. It isfotrnd that the ion heating rate is significantly enhanced by the relativistic effects. This feattrreis essential for off-centre ignition of' targets in laser ftrsion.
