• A new neutron-rich isotope "'Tb produced in 16 lVIeV proton-induced fission of "'U has beenidentified using the JAERI on-line isotope separator (JAERI-[S0L) coupled to a gas-jet transportsystem. Dy KX-rays and '7 rays originating frona the decay of""Tb were found in both mass-166and 182 fractions, where the "'Tb nuclides were rnass-separated as elemental tons "'Tb" andmonoxide ions "'TbO', respectively. The half-life of "'Tb has been determined as 21 i 6 s,which is rnuch shorter than theoretical predictions. A decay scheme of "'Tb has been proposedand a probable spin assignment for the "'Tb ground state has been discussed.
