Far-Infrared Study of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O Thin Films on MgO Substrates

Far-infrared transmission measurements of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-0 superconducting thinfilms deposited on MgO substrates have been made in the range from 50 to 300 cmat temperatures between 7 and l 74 K. Transmittance spectra cannot be explainted bythe Leplae theory of a conventional strperconductor in the sujcerconducting state,while transmittance spectra were fully explained by the Drude theory in the normalstate. The discrepancy of a theoretical spectrtum xvi[h the experimental spectrum isascribed to a large portion of the real part of tlte optical conductivity below the so-called energy gap - 400 cm . Because tltese extra optical conductivities are proportional to their DC condtmctivities iut many specimens, this extra optical conductivity isascri bed to an electronic excitation due to a low-lying energy gap and / or residual normat conductivity below 400 cmhigh temperature superconductor, Bi.Sr.CaCu.0., Bi.Sr.Ca.Cu.0., supercon-ducting thin film, chemical vapor deposition, far-infrared [ransmittance, opticalconductivity, analysis of transmittance
