Electron Spin Resonance Study on Second-Stage MnCl_2-Graphite Intercalation Compound

The second-stage MnCl.-graphite intercalation compound (GIC) is a two-dimensional (2D) antiferromagnet with uniaxial anisotropy on the triangularlattice. It undergoes two magnetic phase transitions at T.. and T.. (7'..=l.1 Kand T..=46.7 K). The electron spin resonance of this compound have beenmeasured at 9.43 GHz over the temperature range 4.2 K<7'<300 K. The angulardependence or the line-width is or the (3cos'? - t )'-like form at 300 K (e is theangle between the external field H and the c-axis), indicating the 2D characterof this compound. The line-width at 0=9O' (H 3- c) increases monotonously withdecreasing temperature in the temperature range T..<T<T.., while the line-width at 2=0' (H//c) shows a local minimum between T.. and T...
