The steady two-dimensional Stokes flow past two circular cylind<:rs of equalradii is considered, where the direction of the flow is parallel to the line joiningthe centers. Separation of the flow from the cylinders occurs if tha: parameterr=(distance between two cylinders)/(diameter of the cylinders) is less than 1.57.If t is less than 1.07 the twin eddies attached to both cylinders coalc:sce to formtwo separation lines joining two cylinders. As t decreases, the nuanber of theseparation lines increases, and Moffatt vortices are formed at r=0 (i.e. in contact). These results are in accordance with the experiments given by Tanedzt.
