Standing plane waves in a rigidly rotating ideal flttid are considered. It is shown that all of themare unstable with respect to three-dinaensional perttrrbations. When the attaplitude of standingxvaves is small, the growth rate of' the instabilities increases as their waventumber increases. Itapproaches the value predicted by a XVKB ?rnalysis (Lifschitz & Fabijonas 1996) frotaa below.The rnost dangerous modes are concentrated near the node-planes of the basic flow field. Forlong wavelength disturbances of srnall aztuplitude inertial waves resonant triad instabilities areobserved.
