A Method for Estimating the Effective Pair Potentials of Molten Salts from Measured Structural Data

A nexv metlaod luas been proposed for estirnating the efl'ective pair potentials of a tnolten saltfrom the experirmental strtrcttrral data. The basic idea was t?tken frorn a "predictor-correctorraaethod" originally proposed by Reatto et at. in 1986 for a single cornponent liqtrid systern. Thepresent nuethod appears to hold promise ita reducing difficulty associated with a X/Q' siuagtrlarityarising f'rom the long-range 1/7' behavior of the direct correlation ftrnction for 21 Coulou?abicinteracting liquid. The trseftrlness of this taaethod was tested by estitnating the effective pairpotentials of rnolten Nail, consider'ing orae of the typical ionic liquids, frona the experinaentalstrtrctural data reported by Biggin and Enderby in 1982. The restrltant potentials are fotrnd toimprove those of Tosi and Fumi extensively trsed.
