Referring to the observed single- to penta-electron transfer cross sections forKr" (q=2 - 9) ions on various gas targets, a model is presented that projectile ioncaptures electrons from an electron cloud of target particle through a statisticalwxy. This is closely related with the classical one electron model.A representative comparison is shown between the experiment and the presentmodel for Kr"-Kr collisions at 24 keV impact energy.
