Structure and Magnetic Properties of Electrodeposited Fe-Ni Alloy Films

Fe-Ni alloy films with a composition of Invar region were prepared on coppersubstrates by electrodeposition. The crystal structures and magnetic p?ropertiesof the filrns were investigated. The re;gion which formed x phase in the films wasdifferent from that shown in the equilibrium phase diagram for bulk samples ofFe-Ni system, that is, the region shifts toward the nickel richer composition. Thedrop region the magnetization in the electrodeposited film shows a ter.dency toshift to the nickel richer composition (45 at.'l3 Ni-Fe) corresponding with theshift of tlae a phase at the film deposition. The magnetic moment at low tempera-Lures in the electrodeposited film decreases more rapidly with the increase of .temperature as compared with the result observed in the bulk crystal.
