The anisotropy of the transverse magnetoresistance and the magnetic fielddependence have been studied in single crystals of gadolinium in fields up to100 k0e at a temperature of 4.2 K. These results suggest the presence of openorbits along the [00014 direction for all field directions in the (0001) plane and alongthe [10104 direction for the field direction about 20' from the [00014 axis in the(1010) plane. The results also can qualitatively be interpreted from the Fermisurface model determined by Batallan and Sommers.
