The thermal conductivity of CeNiSn single crystals has been measured in the fern-perature range between 1.6 K and 18 K along each of the principal axes. The thermalconductivity is very anisotropic, reflecting the orthorhombic crystal structure. Abroad peak and an obscure indent are observed at 5.6 K and 6.9 K, respectively, in thetemperature dependence of the thermal conductivity along the #-axis, Thisanomalous behavior is considered to be associated with the energy-gap formation inthe semiconductorlike heavy-fermion compound around these temperatures. Below1.52.6 K, all of the thermal conductivity along the a-, b- and c-axes obeys a T -dependence. Carriers of the thermal conduction are mainly phonons and are scattereddominantly by electrons, which is speculated from the comparison with the electricalresistivity and specific heat data.CeNiSn, ternary compound, thermal conductivity, electrical resistivity, specificheat, heavy fermion, valence fluctuation
