Various Types of Magnetism in SnTe Crystals Doped with 3d Transition Metals

Magnetization measurements have been carried out to study various types ofmasnetism in desenerate masnetic semiconductors Snt-.(Me).Te with different3d transition metals Me=Cr, Fe, Co, and Ni. Of these impurities with x=1at. %, only Cr and Fe act as ferromagnetic centers, while Co and Ni are magneti-cally ineffective in the host SnTe matrix which has a strong diamagnetic back-ground. In particular, Sn) =.Cr.Te (0.2 at. 3<,v<2 at. %) exhibits a ferromagnetictransition at the Curie temperature T. which varies from 150 K to 300 K dependingon the Cr concentration and the annealing. This transition was confirmed by theanomalies in the spin resonance (g-value and linewidth), the resistivity, and thespecific heat.
