Effects of Magnetic Field on Josephson Current in SNS System

Tlue effect of a taaagnetic field on Josephson ctrrrent has been sttrdied for a superconductor/norznal-unetal/supercondtrctor (SNS) systetaa, where N is a two-dirnensional electron gas in aconfining potential. It is found that the deperadence of Josephson ctrrrents on the magnetic fieldare sensitive to tlae width of the normal tnetal. If the nornaal tnetal is xvide and contains manyclaannels (strbbands), tlae ctrrrent on a xveak tnagnetic field shows a dependence sinailar to aFratrnhofer-pattern anad, as the field gets strong, it shows another type of oscillatory dependenceon the field resulting fronu the Aharonov-Bohtn interference betxveen the ed"e states. As thentruaaber of chatanels decreases (i.e. norrnal rnetal gets narrower), hoxvever, the dependence inthe region of the weak field deviates f'rona a clear Fratrnhofer pattern and the amplitude of theoscillatory dependence in the region of tlae strong field is redtrced.
