A new possible treatment of large-amplitude gauge-field fluctuations around the slave-bosonmean-field theory for the t-J model has been proposed by attaching gauge flux to spinons andholons and then by treating them as y-ons which respect the time-reversal symmetry. Usingthe thermodynamic distribution function of y-ons, the optimum exclusion statistics has beendetermined in the plane of doping rate and temperature. The results indicate that slave fermionsare favored at low doping while slave bosons at high doping with intermediate statistics inbetween.
