(DCNQI)_2Cu : A Luttinger-Peierls System

It is indicated that the stability of average valence 44/3 of Cu, i.e. Cu"", invarious (DCNQI).Cu salts is the consequence of strong correlation at Cu sites. It isalso discussed that the phase diagram separating metallic and insulating statestogether with the reentrance on the plane of pressure and temperature can beunderstood as due to the competition between the three-dimensionality and thePeierls instability associated with charge fluctuation of 4k. as well as ordinary 2k. ineach chain.
