De Haas-van Alphen Effect and Fermi Surfaces in UC

We grew a higla-quality single crystal of UC ?tnd carried ottt tlae de Haas-van Alphen(dHvA)experimerats. Tlae Fermi strr'faces of a sernira'xetal UC were confirrned to consist of three ellipsoidalhole-Fernai strrfaces centered at the X points and six ctrshion-like electron-Fertmi strrfaces ceu'nteredat the N7 points ira the fcc Brillotuina zone. Tl'uese Ferumi strrface properties are based on thecombiraed resttlts of dHvA experinuer'nts and SRAPW-er'xergy loand calctrlations. The laole andelectron Ferrni sttrfaces unainly originate froun tl'xe C 2p valence band and the U 5 f cor?dttctionband, respectively. The cyclotron 111188 of the laole is light, loeirag a rest IIIQSS of auu electronm0, xvhile the lIl2tSS of tlae electron is laeavy, being in the range f'rorn 4.0 to 15 rug. Tlae IIIQSSenhanceunent is large for the electron Feruni sturface, originttted f'roraa the U 5 f chzxr;xcter.
