Single Crystal Growth and the Upper Critical Field of the Superconductor U_6Fe

Single crystals of supercondvtcting U(5Fe were grown by both the zone-melting rnethod and theCzochralski pulling method. The upper critical field H.z was deternained from the electricalresistivity in applied magnetic fields, and H.3 is found to be anisotropic; 13.1 T for the fieldalong the [0014 direction and 10.4 T for [1104. Anisotropy of H.) is well explained by the effectivetnass model.
