High-Field Magnetization of USn_3 and UPb_3

UX_3 (X=Si, Ge, Sn and Pb) compounds with the cubic crystal structure are interesting in relation with the lattice constant and the electronic state of 5ƒ electrons.We measured the high-field magnetization of USn_3 and UPb_3 grown by the self-flux method. The broad metamagnetic transition was observed in a heavy fermion paramagnetic compound USn_3 at about 30T, which is similar to the metamagnetism of UPt_3. On the other hand, the sharp metamagnetic transitions were observed in an antiferromagnetic compound UPb_3.
