De Haas-van Alphen Effect and Energy Band Structure in UB_2

We grew a single crystal of UB2 with the hexagonal structure and observed the de Haas-vanAlphen (dHvA) oscillation. All of' the dHvA branches, which are abotrt seven in number, aredetected in the limited angle regions. They are xvell explained by the 5 f -itinerant relativistic bandtheorv with an exchange and correlation tcotential in a local densitv at>r>roximation. Naunely,UB2 is a conapensated naetal with an eqtral ntrmber of' electron and hole. The Fertaai sturf'aceconsists of' two closed but corrtrgated Ferraai strrfaces. The cyclotron tn..tsses are naoderatelyheavy, ranging frorn 1.2 to T.Tm0.
