Fermi Surface Properties and Metamagnetism in the Antiferroquadrupolar Compound PrPb_3

We have uneastrred the de Haas-van Alphen effect of' PrPb3 whose antiferroqtraxdrtrpolar orderhug OCCLIIS ?rt 0.4 K. Kzlain Fernui strrfaces corasist of fotrr closed ones, which are almost spherical.These Fernai strrfaces are the satne as those of a non-7' reference compotrnd LaPb3 in topology,although the cyclotron effective masses are 2 to 6 ti?aaes larger than those of LaPb3. The cyclotron effective taaasses are teunperattrre-dependent, xvhich starts gradtnally with decreasing tlaeternperattmre below 1 K. A rnetanaagnetic transition is also fotnnd to occur at abotrt 70 k0e below0,6 K througla the rnagnetization, magnetostriction and AC susceptibility rneastrrements. Thesephenoraaena are closely related to the antiferroqtradrtrpolar ordering at 0.4 K.
