Elastic Anomalies and Acoustic de Haas-van Alphen Effects in Sr_2RuO_4

Ultrasotrnd velocity measurerraents b?tsed on 21 phase conaparison ttaethod f'or fotnr difl'erentmodes have been done on a copper-f'ree layered perovskite stmpercondtrctor SrzRuO,j with T.1.2 K. Anotnalotus softening is obser'ved in the longittrdinal Cll and C33 modes below 108 K,which is attributed to the cotrpliu'xg of the electronic stattes to the strain with 73 representationin the tetragonal point grottp D,)).. Tire discontinuotrs change of the slope in C) j and (l?33 art T.is basically explained by the second-order strain dependence of' T., 8'T. /De: j.. Frorta the initialslope of the upper critical field H.), the anisotropy ratio in the coherence length is fotrnd to be28, in agreement with previous ac strsceptilcility rneastrrenrents. Acoustic de Haas-van Alphenoscillations for the cylindrical o-Fertaai strrf'ace with 3.2mg are observed in C33 as a ['unctionof the tnagnetic field applied per'pendicular to the Q2D conducting plane. The area coefficientis evaltrated to be 14.,l : 2085 frorn the Kataoka-Goto tnodel. The zntrltiband terrn 1,4".contribtrtes dominantly to 1,4,l, which corresjconds to the interband charge transfer.
