We sttrdied the conudtrctance of atoutuic-sized xvires of iron raaade iza a scanning ttrnneling znicro-scope (STIVI) at 4.2 K. The condtrctance was tneasttred as a function of the displaceuaaent betweenthe iron substrate and the STIVI tip dtrring the elongation and cottapression of the wires. Theobserved condttctance ctrrves were qtuantized, ;tnd SOIII(l) of' the steps in the condtrctance ctrrvesdisplay hysteresis for repeated displaceuaaents. The trnit of the qtrantization is e'/Yx 21S expectedin ferrornagnetic naaterials. A naaagnetic field of Ulp to 150 rtaT hardly affects the condtrctance. These resttlts are disctrssed ira terraas of' the ballistic transport acconaapanied xvith the strddenatomic re?trrangeuaaents and the contintzotrs def'orzmzttion ?trotznd the xvires,
