Topological Solitions and Modulated Structure of Bases in DNA Double Helices : A Dynamic Plane Base-Rotator Model

Topological solitons and modulated structures of bases in DNA macromolecules are studied by using a dynamic plane-base rotator model. It is shown that there exist 2π topological solitons in the continuum approximation and metastable structures of bases, such as commensurate, incommensurate and chaotic structures.
