<原著>気管支喘息におけるtheophylline投与の内因性cyclic nucleotidesへの影響について

Theophylline is an important drug to treat bronchial asthma as well as β_2-stimulator. We have investigated the relationships between serum theophylline level, plasma cyclic AMP (cAMP), cyclic GMP (cGMP) and change rate in pulmonary function. In this paper, we studied the change of lymphocyte cAMP and cGMP to elucidate the behavior of cyclic nucleotides on cellular level. Plasma cAMP level showed no obvious difference between asthma patients and healthy adults before and after administration of theophylline. On the other hand, lymphocyte cAMP level showed an obvious increase only in asthma patients after administration of theophylline, while the level showed no difference between asthma patients and healthy adults before the administration. The difference in activity of phosphodiesterase between the patients and healthy adults is thought to be one of the causes of the difference in lymphocyte cAMP level. Hereafter further studies into this point are needed.
