The rheotaxic behaviors, both menotaxis and the tropotaxis were studied in the crayfish in relation to the mechanoreceptors on the antennas. The ablation and the masking experiments revealed that the sensory hairs on the first antenna are responsible for the rheotaxic response. The positive rheotaxic responses were dominantly observed in the intermediate current region between 1 and 2.5 cm/sec velocity.
