Shapes and functions of the sensory hairs on the endopodium of the crayfish first antenna were examined with a scanning electron microscope and with electrophysiological methods. Several histochemical methods including ones for divalent cations were used for the examination of sensory hair constituents. Sensory hairs of F-type were tonic in physiological function and their movements were rectricted only to the direction pressing towards the segmental surface. The Sand L-type hairs were projecting with bellow-like folds at the socket base for helping the movement. Most of the hairs were innervated dually, and the anatomical and physiological structures were slightly different according to their structures.
