• (1-Alkyl-2-hydroxyethyl)diphenylphosphine oxides were synthesized from the corresponding (1-alkyl-2-oxoethyl)diphenylphosphine oxides in excellent yields. The structures of 2-hydroxy derivatives and their acetates were confirmed by elemental and spectral analyses.
