Electrochemical, thermochemical, and light scattering investigations were performed on the 1-octanol liquid membrane systems containing dipalmitoyl-DL-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) as an ionophore. It was suggested that DPPC molecules form inverted micellar aggregate in water saturated 1-octanol and that the membrane processes can be regulated by an endothermic phase transition of the DPPC multimolecular cation carrier.
