We here report a case of a 67-year-old woman who experienced pulmonary embolism (PE) three times during 10 days. Once, she experienced cardiac arrest, and was successfully resuscitated with the percutaneous cardiopulmonary bypass system (PCPB), and underwent emergency surgical pulmonary thrombectomy. We would like to advocate the effectiveness of PCPB for patients with profound shock or cardiac arrest due to acute PE, and to emphasize importance of confirmation of the embolic source.
