Galvanomagnetic properties have been investigated of near-ideal pyrolytic graphite inter-calated with nitrate over the range 10^<-7> to 1.5×10^<-2> in mol concentration. The Hall coefficient changing with nitration indicates a maximum in the concentration range 10^<-3>-10^<-2>, and converges to a small positive value, while magnetoresistance falls off and eventually becomes negative with heavy nitration. The experimental results are analyzed in terms of conventional two-band model; the positive-hole generation rate is found to be 0.07 per nitrate in the high concentration range above 10^<-3>. An analysis in terms of Yazawa's theory has led to the conclusion that the acceptor level is as deep as about 0.3 eV relative to the top of the valence band, which however conflicts with the presence of negative magnetoresistance.
