Based on Blinowski-Rigaux's band model, an expression for the y-shift (Jy)in stage-4 donor graphite intercalation compound has been derived by using theDresselhaus-Dresselhaus spin-orbit Ilamiltonian. If the bands are labeled asB , A-, B" and A" in order of energy E, y-shifts for A"- and B"-states areof opposite sign to each other, and in most cases ?,d.((A-)? >?Jy(B-)?>?Jy(B")?>Jy(A")?. Since the higher the energy E. the less the state density, the total g-shift lgz I. Cm. Ag(E,)d(E, -Ep)/?, II. d(E. -Ep) is very small in agreementwith the observations: If the Fermi level crosses the four bands Ag becomesessentially zero, while the crossing with the three bands A , B" and A" makesAg finite but still small in the magnitude. Each Ag(E.) is very sensitive to thepotential difference between the bounding and interior layers.
