Preparation of Phthalocyanine-Dispersed Polymer Thin Film by Solvent-Free Process with Vapor Deposition Polymerization

We report our success in the solvent-free preparation of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc)-dispersed polymer thin film using a vacuum process. Cube was coevaporated at the same time polyurea film was formed by the vapor deposition polymerization method. Transparent films were formed uniformly on glass substrates. Film thickness and concentration of CuPc were controlled through the deposition time and deposition rate. CuPc was found to disperse in needlelike microcrystalline form within polyurea, as determined by electron microscopy. The structure of polyurea and CuPc microcrystals was discussed, using infrared and visible absorption spectra.
