Considerations are made fundamentally on stresses/strains controlling parameter of a cracked plate joining two dissimilar materials, especially materials whose yield strengths are different from each other, that is σI/Y, σII/Y. Attention is mainly paid to a joined plate with a crack whose tip exists in the vicinity of the joined surface of dissimilar materials. FEA analyses are applied for calculation of deformation behaviors under tension of two kinds of cracked plates L-type specimen in which crack is perpendicular to the joined surface and P-type specimen in which crack is parallel to the joined surface. Mechanical heterogeneity remarkably influences stresses/strains in the vicinity of crack tip when plastic deformation spreads beyond the joined surface. On the analogy of linear elastic fracture mechanics theory, a parameter F, which controls stresses/strains in the vicinity of crack tip, has been proposed. By using two parameters; strength ratio of two materials, S_r (=σII/Y/σI/Y) and F (=σ_G/σI/Y √<c/d>), characteristics of stress/strain distributions in two kinds of cracked plates can be classified.
