Estimation of the CO_2 Fixation Ability of Thiobacillus thiooxidans JCM 7814

The growth ot Thiobacillus thiooxidans JCM 7814 was influenced by the partial pressure of CO_2(pCO_2)in the gas mixture sparged into the fermentor. The maximum value of the specific growth rate (μ) was 0.14h^<-1> when the pCO_2 was 0.3%. The specific fixation rate of CO_2 was determined to be 5.9g-CO_2/g-cell・d when calculated from the specific growth rate and the carbon content of T. thiooxidans JCM 7814.
