Chiral Potts Models,Friendly Walkers and Directed Percoltion Problem

The A-state chiral Potts model on a finite directed lattice is defined, whose partition functionunder a certain boundary condition becomes the directed percolation (DP) probability for a finitelattice in the A -+ 1 limit. We also introdtmce the system of m friendly walkers of' L time-stepsand prove that its generating function of trajectories is eqtral to the partition ftrnction of theA-state chiral Potts n?odel wherx m : (A - l) /2. Combining these results gives a new formtrla forthe DP probability given by a double liuauit L -* (X and m -) O of' the generating function of' thern friendly walkers. We define the critical value p';-' for the infinite systeraa of' m f'riendly walkers.Numerical study supports our con.jecture that the critical valtre p. for the DP probability is givenby the m -+ O extrapolation of p'.-'
