The change in the electron beam distribution func.tion due to the wave e>ccitedby the beant density naodulatiomt is observed, relating to the suppression of electrortwaves in a beam-plasma system. It is also found that, in spite of the dependence0f the critical mnodulation voltage on the frequency difference between the modula-tion and the electron wave, th<c resulting potential amplitude of the excited wavehas a constant value independently of the frequency difference.
