Relaxation of Crystal Shape Profile near the Facet Edge

The relaxation process of the crystal shape near the facet is studied. We adopt adynamical equation which takes account of the nonanalytic behavior of the vicinalsurface free energy to analyze the relaxation process of the crystal shape near thefacet. During the relaxation process, the surface gradient p shows the Gruber-Mullins-Pokrovsky-Talapov behavior p -(Ar)"' (Jr: distance from the facet edge)off the facet edge. Quite near the facet edge, however, we obtain the 'classical'behavior p -Ar. This result, dynamical transmutation of critical behavior, gives apossible explanation for the discrepancy between theory and experiment on the facetedge critical behavior.[crystal shape, facet edge, Gruber-Mullins-Pokrovsky-Talapov behavior, infer- ll face dynamics, dynamical transmutation, critical behaviorl
