• The Landau theory is applied to investigate successive phase transitions in{N(CH.). }.CuBr.. Transition sequence in this material from a normal phase to anincommensurate phase, followed by a commensurate ferroelectric phase andfinally by the lowest temperature phase is explained. It is also shown that the phasetransitions observed in {N(CH.).}.ZnBr. and {N(CH.).}.CoBr. can be dis-cussed by the present model qualitatively.
