Lattice instability of 2#-TaSe. and 2#-NbSe. is studied on the basis of theelectronic band structure of these compounds obtained by a tight-binding fit toMattheiss' band calculation. The wave number and mode dependences of theelectron-lattice coupling matrix and the generalized electrormic susceptibility arecalculated. The results are discussed in connection with the lattice instability.
